become a fwb host or steward

fwb stewards and hosts are the backbone of fwb 2.0. Every play event has at least one steward and one host to build community, facilitate connection and play, and help to keep our attendees safe. While they are similar and collaborative roles, there are some differences we want to go over:

hosts

Host responsibilities
- Help develop the theme and programming for an event, including activities and ice breakers
- Promote the event to our community
- Monitor the play area during events and act as the point of contact for guests for any consent or interpersonal issues that may arise during an event

Host compensation
For fwb official events: $12 per attendee for weekday events and $15 per attendee for weekend events
For Co-Play events: hosts are not compensated, but can participate in play activities

Who should apply
This role is perfect for people who are outgoing and love bringing folks together. You should be comfortable talking in front of a group, facilitating connection, and enforcing rules.

stewards

Steward responsibilities
- Welcome people into the space - you're usually the first person people encounter when folks arrive at the Clubhouse!
- Open the Clubhouse, clean and prepare the space, check-in/out guests, manage the social spaces during the event, clean-up, lock up, and deal with any issues with attendees, building staff, and/or neighbors.
- Act as the main point of contact for the fwb team during an event.
- Remove guests who are violating any rules that require they leave (over intoxication, consent violations)

Steward compensation
$25-$50 per hour depending on the type and size of event, experience level, and other qualifications/certifications.

This role is perfect for people who love being of service, are meticulous about presentation and vibes, and aren't scared of conflict. You should be comfortable welcoming people in, kicking people out (when appropriate), and navigating nuanced situations that require quick decision-making.

We require all people interested in becoming a host and/or steward to attend our host training, where we cover the basics of hosting a play party. Additionally, you will need to co-host or co-steward an event with one of our experienced hosts/stewards to learn the ropes. We're looking for more people with different perspectives and identities to apply to help us continue to offer and support diverse programming.

In addition to host training, we offer a free monthly meet-up for hosts either virtually or in-person to workshop ideas, find co-hosts, get feedback on how to handle specific situations, and share tips and tricks.
